Quite a few people land on Creative Opera through a search engine. Most of the time, they are searching for something design related. But, sometimes, the search terms used to bring visitors to this blog just don’t make any sense at all.
As a graphic design instructor, and as a professional designer, I hear the same things over and over again. I’m not sure where the rumors started, or how they continue to grow, but I thought it was time that someone set the record straight.
I had been avoiding Twitter for a while. I didn’t have a lot of spare time, and I was worried it would just be another daily distraction. But, it wasn’t long before I saw the advantages that Twitter offers. To me, it is obvious: all designers should be on Twitter.
This week, it was brought to my attention that two of my favorite design portfolio sites had been outright copied not once but many times by scammers claiming to be designers.
As I was searching the web the other day, I was shocked to see how many decent websites were being ruined by poor font choices. Fonts that I thought had died long ago were still being used on designer sites! I had to speak up. These fonts should be outlawed.
