Design Events, Seminars and Workshops: Summer 2009

I’ve put together a list of all of the design-related events, seminars, and workshops scheduled for this summer, covering all areas from photography to CS4. I’ll be updating this post throughout the summer, so check back later for even more events!

June 3 – November 8, 2009 – Multiple cities

In this intensive, two-day workshop taught by Jerry Courvoisier, learn how to download, organize, manage, develop, and present digital photography using your own laptop. Topics include digital camera setup, choosing appropriate file formats for image capture, efficiently downloading images from your camera or hard drive, sorting, rating, editing, input and output sharpening, presenting slide shows, and printing photographic images using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 from start to finish.

 

event2Digital Workflow, Not Workslow by D-65

June 12 – December 14, 2009 – Multiple cities

The D-65 workshops teach bulletproof techniques for increasing workflow productivity. This four-day intensive workshop taught by Seth Resnick and Jamie Spritzer goes in depth into the five modules of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2. You will learn a detailed workflow, including digital asset management, processing, and delivering images. You will also learn how to create files perfect for reproduction, along with attaching the appropriate metadata and keywords. Days will consist of hands-on training supplemented by a comprehensive Lightroom workflow book.

DrupalCampLA is the annual free conference organized by LA Drupal to unite and improve the Drupal Development Community in Los Angeles.

DrupalCampLA is an unconference-style Drupal training, founded in the style ofBarCamp. While there are some differences (DrupalCamp does more pre-planning on the sessions), they have the common goal of bringing smart people together in an environment that is accessible to everyone.

This generally means that you will have a lot of very smart people in a small space who have all come there with something to share and a desire to learn. Since this is a free event and on a weekend, we also get to welcome folks who can’t usually take the time or money to go to commercial conferences – so it’s a lot of fun with fresh faces.

This will be my first time attending most of these events. I will attend most of the Chicago events. Seeing how I am in Chicago. But this is a first for me and I am truly happy and so excited to attend.

I’m so glad that you are all finding this post useful! I’ve already added some more events, and will continue to add additional events as I come across them. I’m going to do my best to attend a couple of these this year. They all sound so wonderful! If only I was a millionaire…
